Google does not use the keywords meta tag in web ranking

Meta Tags and GoogleSearch giant Google reiterated on Monday that keyword meta tags do not help raise the profile for websites in search ranking.

Meta tags are a part of a website’s code which offer further information to search engines about the website. The keyword meta tag, as the name suggests, utilises key words or phrases that summarise for the search engine what the website is all about.

Traditionally, search engines used keyword meta tags to decide how relevant a website was to a particular search term and therefore keyword meta tags became an essential part of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

Google were defiantly explicit that this was no longer the case, and that keyword meta tags are not used for ranking purposes.
